Tinted Moisturizer

So, like I said the other day, I had bought some things at Sephora and tried them out. One of the things I tried was Laura Mercier's Tinted Moisturizer - Illuminating. The first time I used it, I assumed I didn't use enough. It was hard to spread everywhere and didn't seem to blend well. So this morning I figured I'd try again. I really wanted to use this moisturizer under my makeup for the wedding because it's supposed to give you a nice glow, but clearly I didn't know how to use it. This morning - disaster! This time I definitely used enough to be able to spread it on my face, but it dried almost instantly into this cakey mess! I looked so scary! I had to immediately wash it off! What am I doing wrong??

Makeup?

So... makeup. Makeup makeup. I don't know anything about makeup and the people at Macy's scare me, so after much on-line researching, I decided to make a trip to Sephora and see what I could find. I ended up buying more than I should, but figured it'd be good to try out. First I decided to get a tinted moisturizer. Actually I was just looking for a regular moisturizer, but I heart Laura Mercier was a good brand, so I figured I'd give it a try since my skin is so dry.

Next I wanted to get a primer because I've heard you should always use a good primer. Plus I figured it'd be good to have a layer between the moisturizer and foundation, so I used Smashbox for that:
The next thing I wanted to get was concealer. I have some mineral concealer for my eyes, but I'd heard about this Make Up For Ever stuff that was good for dark circles and redness, so thought I'd give it a try. Plus it has three other colors for regular concealer!
I'd heard a lot of good stuff about NARS Orgasm blush and that pretty much any skin tone could use, so I got that next. Then I needed some tools to actually apply the stuff. I decided to go cheap so got Sephora's travel kit:
Finally this morning I decided to put the makeup to the test. Sorry I'm so ugly! Below is a picture of me without any makeup and then one with! I think I look a little better... but need to work on my smile, and I maybe need more makeup and maybe I have the wrong color foundation?

Dress!

Over the weekend, I got together with my MOH (Maid of Honor) and my Mom to go dress shopping! I had scouted ahead of time for some bridal shops in the area and when they were open and we decided to get together at 10:00 at the mall. My MOH spent the night at my place so that we could get an early start! We met up with my Mom at the mall and decided to first check to see if there were any good dresses at the mall. I was thinking a prom dress might do, but we didn't see any good ones in white or ivory. I had heard that JCPenney supposedly had wedding dresses, but when we tried them, they said they didn't carry them anymore. Boo! So then we decided to drive to Main Stree to hit up the two bridal shops. We actually only needed to hit one! I found a dress! It was the first dress I tried on and I loved it! It's a bridesmaid dress, so the one I tried on was black, not white, but I ordered it in white, of course. Below are some images of me in the dress - mind you the wedding dress will be white when it comes in.

Save the Dates!

So I was hanging out with my Maid of Honor today and we decided to swing by Michaels so I could buy some supplies. I bought a heat embosser thingy, plus some powders, an embossing buddy, and some various other supplies. Tonight I've been making save the dates! I need to send these out ASAP because I think some of our friends don't know we're getting married in October and I want to make sure they can make it!

Wedding Dream

So I had the weirdest wedding dream last night! The dream starts off at the beginning of the ceremony and Seth and I are standing up while the officiant starts doing some speech. But then, instead of doing our vows, the officiant brings out the cake and starts cutting into it and like blessing it or something and setting it to the side. And then next thing I knew, we were sitting down to have dinner and I turn to Seth and go "Did we get married and I missed it?" and he replies "Yeah, we're married." I was like "I don't remember doing the vows or saying 'I do,'" and Seth says we skipped that part and so I'm freaking out "then we're not married!" It was so weird...

JP Booked!

So last week, I got together with a Justice of the Peace to discuss her as a potential officiate of our wedding. I actually stumbled upon her because she's a member of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) and so am I! I thought that it would be pretty cool to have an engineer marry us since Seth and I are both engineers. So anyway, we met and talked for a little bit, and I really liked her. She's never done a marriage, but she's done a civil union, which is basically the same thing. She also said that everything would be up to Seth and me and that she'd work with us to figure out exactly what we want said and such. Bonus: she's free! She's doing this for the experience! Yay!

Arrivals!

The Save-the-Date magnets have arrived and so have all the paper and envelopes! I now just need to get some ribbon and some photo-corners and I'll be all set to send out save-the-dates! I'm so excited! The magnets by the way are from Print Pelican. The paper and envelopes are from Paper and More.

Potential Invite!

So I finally got around to doing a mock-up for our invitations. The main reason this took me so long to get around to doing was because my computer died a while ago and I've been borrowing one from a friend. I didn't want to just start installing stuff on his computer, so I didn't feel like I could install my printer and use it. I've tried using Seth's printer, but it's essentially useless. Anyway, I got permission from my friend to hookup my printer and finally did an invite mock-up! I like how the monogram came out. What do you think?
