Cake is good

So Seth and I moved into our house on Saturday and then my parents came up on Sunday. They brought us some pastries from Madeleines' to sample. My parents are going to be buying our wedding cake and they'll probably be getting it from this place. Apparently we can come in for a private cake tasting at some point to figure out what kind of cake we want. Here are some that I like from Martha Stewart Weddings:

Maid of Honor!

So tonight I decided to purchase some gifts for my Maid of Honor. I plan to give her these gifts when I ask her to take on the task of being my one and only bridesmaid. Since Seth and I are having such a small wedding, it doesn't really make sense to me to have multiple bridesmaids, so I'm only going to have one, and obviously she'll be my Maid of Honor. I'm really excited to ask her and hopefully she's free on our date and says yes!

I thought it would be cool to get her a book that might give her some tips on her duties. I chose the above book partly because it was blue (my colors) but also because it got some good reviews on Amazon.com. I also wrote a nice note on the inside asking her to be my Maid of Honor.

I decided to get her some lotions that were in our colors (blues) as something nice for her to have. I love her!

Here's the gifts all together and the bag they're going in! Yay! I'm planning to ask her Friday!

Save the Dates Ordered!

So I just ordered the save-the-dates! I showed Seth and my mom and some of my friends, and I feel pretty good about the ones I designed. They're beautiful! I also got some sample papers last night and made sure that my design would look good with those papers, so I'm feeling pretty confident. I placed the order with www.printpelican.com and I feel pretty confident they'll turn out good. At least I hope! Another blog I read, Trip to the Altar (hmm... sounds familiar...) suggested them for save-the-dates. She did postcards, but I'm doing magnets. Hopefully my magnets look just as good as her postcards look!

Save the Date?

So I've been making some potential save-the-dates for the wedding now that we know family can do October 3rd. I'm probably going to make magnets and send them out to people. Here's my current potential design:

Very simple, but cute, right? Obviously it looks a little better when the last names aren't blocked out, but you can never be too safe on the internet, right? I'm going to see what my mom thinks tonight and then I'll have to actually show Seth, haha.

October 3, 2009

That's the date! It's official! Seth talked to his parents and grandparents, I talked to my parents (who will talk to my grandparents) but everyone sounds pretty sure that October 3rd is fine and everyone's free! Yay! I'm so excited! Next step will be do get an officiant, but I'm not too concerned about that since Seth and I just need a JP to do it. Now I need to do save-the-dates!

Potential Date?

I think we've set a potential date! This is a huge step for us! Obviously, it's not set in stone yet, but I'm feeling close! We're thinking Saturday, October 3rd. This year! That's... oh... only five months away! haha! We're so insane. But I convinced Seth that having a small simple wedding at the house was the way to go. Now we need to confirm that parents and grandparents can go and then the ball will really be rolling! Eeek!

Bad Updater - But Updates!

Okay, I feel terrible for being such a bad updater. But here's the deal... we got the house! We officially closed last week, but haven't moved in yet. We're going to wait until I'm done grad school (May 12th is my last class) and then move in the weekend after that. I've enlisted a group of friends to help, so we're in good shape. We're just trying to get everything in boxes before the move!So anyway, now that that's almost done... I should talk wedding, right? Okay, so I've made zero more plans since before. But I have been really thinking lately that I'd like to have a small wedding and host it at our house. Our house is beautiful and is meaningful to both Seth and I. It would be great to have it there! Plus if we kept the wedding small and had guests bring food instead of gifts, it would save us soooo much money!! For music, I could just get my friend to bring his ipod and my other friend's ipod-home (is that what they're called?). Food/drinks could be provided by guests. I have another friend who could be our photographer. I have another friend who could probably do my hair. I'd still need to do all the save-the-dates and invitations, but I'd only have to do like 15 instead of 30. I could skip doing the program. I probably would need to rent tables and chairs for outside, or maybe even inside, but still... I think having a small wedding at the house would be so much less stressful than trying to plan a big one!
