Potential Invitations

So I showed my sample invitation earlier but I thought I'd show the cards that will go with it. I'm thinking of doing a pocketfold so my inserts are of various heights so they look good. I like all of them except the reception one. It looks weird to me. What do other people think?

Stupid Bank!

Gahh, I'm so frustrated! I'm trying to get organized in order to call the mortgage people I've been talking to so Seth and I can get pre-approved for a loan, but I keep running into obstacles! First it was the fact that I didn't have any of Seth's information. Then it was the fact that my old W-2s are at my parent's house. Then I forgot to bring Seth and my bank statements. Then I realized I didn't have my savings' account bank statements. Apparently half of my accounts still send statements to my parents' instead of my current address. So I'm thinking, "Okay, that's not a problem, I'll just print the last 60-days worth of transactions from my on-line banking." Easy, right? WRONG! For some reason the on-line information doesn't even list my NAME!!! That's right, no NAME. That means there's nothing to prove that it's even my account or my money, which means it's USELESS to me! Talk about annoying! So now I'm going to have to drop by a bank and see if I can get them to print out the last two bank statements that went to my parents' house (and then promptly got thrown out) so that I can finally get back to the mortgage people! Ugh!

On a related note, I think I had my first wedding-stress dream, but I can't really remember what it was. I just remember waking up all panicked because of something wedding related. I wonder what it was about...

Invitations Example

So, even though Seth and I haven't picked a date or reception site or really anything, I've still been playing around with invitations. I know that I'm going to do my own invitations, so I'm trying to decide what they'll look like so that when Seth and I do have a date and site, I can just start making them without having to figure out what they'll look like. I'm leaning towards a pocketfold design and will probably buy something from Cards & Pockets, but nothing's set in stone yet, obviously. I did download a nice vector illustration program so that I could really design something sweet. I'm thinking of using this design from iStockphoto:
Not the colors though. Seth and I will probably be doing blues for our wedding since we both like blues. Here's an example of what we might go with for our main invite with our last names blurred out, of course:

A Simple Monogram

So here's a new simple monogram. I kind of like it, and it's now flowy so Seth might like it too. It's just very simple but sophisticated. Right? Maybe I'm making that last part up but... well... what do people think?

Introductions

So it's probably time to introduce myself and Seth for those of you who don't know us. Where to start... Well, Seth and I are both software engineers. We met in college Freshman year in on of the intro Computer Science classes. At the time we met, he had a girlfriend and I was woefully single. Luckily (for me), he and his girlfriend broke up over the summer. Fall semester (2002) started and in October, we were a couple! We've been together ever since. We both graduated with our Bachelor's in Science in Computer Science with honors. We moved into a decent sized apartment where Seth commutes an hour to work and I drive ten minutes. Why? Because I got my job first so we moved in to a place near where I work. Seth got his job later and thus the commute. The reason we haven't moved yet? Because I'm working on my Master's (which I have one semester left). There it is, the story summed up into a paragraph. We've both 25 now and have been together for over five years. Seth proposed on our five-year anniversary. Below is a picture from Christmas.

House Hunting and Other Stuff

So I'm very excited! Seth and I have started the house hunt! We met with a realtor on Saturday from Suburban Realty, Inc. She was super nice! I'm very excited! She got me set up to be sent e-mails about listings and gave me some names of people to talk to about mortgages. It's an exciting time! Next step: get approved for a mortgage. After that: look at houses!

Thank you Nick for pointing out some of my monograms might not be exactly what I want. He pointed out that S&M actually has another meaning than Seth & Megan, which I knew, but had forgotten. Oops! Maybe not the best monogram to use, especially around grandparents! Wouldn't that be funny! Okay, maybe not.

So I showed Seth the monograms. He said he liked the two middle ones the best. Apparently the others are too "flowy" or something. Blah. I probably shouldn't have shown him. He picked the two I like the least! Now I'm not sure what to do. I guess I should design some more that I like that aren't too "flowy". Yeah right.

Besides monograms, I thought I'd show a picture of the bridesmaids dress I'm looking at. This is, of course, not set in stone, and I haven't seen it in person, but I like the cut and I love the color. This color is currently my inspiration for wedding colors. What do people think? It's from Jasmine Bridal.

Example Monograms

So I've been thinking a lot about doing my own invitations. I recently stumbled upon a blog by a girl named Heather who did a lot of her own stuff. Her blog can be found here: Road to the Aisle. She did her own invitations and they came out looking beautiful! I'm totally jealous of her talent! Anyway, I looked for some other examples of invitations and most, if not all, included some sort of monogram. So I've been playing around with creating my own monogram. I've borrowed inspiration from a lot of different sources and here's what I've come up with so far:
Oh, I should probably point out that those dates are just examples. Seth and I haven't set a date yet. We're going to look at reception sites and depending on what's available when, that will be the deciding factor.

First Post

Well, here I am, posting. This is going to be my link to the On-Line as I share my trip to the alter! Seth and I have been together for over five years now and on our fifth anniversary, he proposed! Now I've been sitting around for a couple months and I'm ready to start planning the wedding! Here goes nothing!
